  40. How Lasers Help Us Focus On Your Comfort
  41. Powerful Potential
'Laser' is an acronym for "Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation". A complicated string of words meaning a single wavelength beam of highly concentrated light energy. And it's precisely that high energy that's made lasers so useful in both general medicine and dentistry. The laser's intense, narrow wavelength has specific, predictable and powerful effects when it contacts both hard and soft tissues of the body. So it's no wonder that the laser can be such an advanced tool in the hands of a skilled professional.

    Efficient Energy
The laser beam can be precisely directed to only the tissues needing treatment, and the way it works virtually eliminates bleeding and sterilizes the area at the same time. All of this translates to higher quality treatments, better outcomes, and greater comfort for the patient. Currently, dental applications include gum disease treatments, cosmetic gum re-contouring, root canal therapy, decay detection and elimination, incision cauterizing, removal of growths, and biopsies.

  42. How do I know when it's time to come in for a checkup?
  43. Because dental health is important to your overall health, adults typically benefit from a professional cleaning and checkup every six months. While twice daily brushing and flossing certainly help maintain a healthy mouth, it is wise to check for plaque that hardens into tartar and can result in gum disease. Tartar requires professional cleaning to remove, and is the best way to prevent gum disease.

  44. My gums bleed after I brush. Is this something to be concerned about?
  45. Gums that bleed after brushing may or may not require attention, depending on the source of the problem. Bleeding gums can be caused by a number of things, including improper, rough scrubbing, using a hard-bristled toothbrush instead of a soft one, plaque and/or tartar build-up below the gum line, or gum sensitivity due to gingivitis or periodontal disease. If this problem persists despite proper brushing and flossing or occurs every time you brush your teeth, contact our office for an appointment to evaluate the problem.

  46. Have the doctors and/or the dental surgery health insurance?
  47. Of course, all of the team members have health insurance with one of the biggest insurance company in the Eu (Generali-Providencia Insurance Co.Ltd.).

  5. DENTAL IMPLANTS
  6. Dental Implants are a remarkable advancement in dental science. Implants are permanent restorations used to replace missing teeth. They can replace a single missing tooth, multiple teeth, or even to stabilize a full denture. They are an attractive alternative to more traditional treatments providing greater stability and security and giving you the natural feeling of your own teeth.

  7. ROOT CANAL TREATMENT
  8.

Occasionally the decay goes so deep, that the the tooth’s nerve chamber will become infected, then an almost unbearable pain appears, usually at night, because of the tension of the gases derives from the inflammation of veins and nerves in it. The root canal treatment, or endodontic intervention, can be executed without pain, and what is more important, it serves tooth-keeping. Root treatment causes less unpleasantness than tooth substitution. During root treatment, after thorough anaesthetisation the dentist removes the inflamed tooth-nerves and veins, and pain, oedema considerably decreases. After that on some occasion dentine is treated with antiseptic and medicines, and when the tooth becomes symptom free, root-filling can be done. After successful root-filling the tooth must be cover-filled, usually it is worth protecting it with a crown.

  9. FILLINGS
  10. Restoring lost tooth structure with porcelain, or composite resin. Used as part of the treatment of cavities.

  11. INLAY

  12. (Requires 4-5 days)
It’s applied in case of large cavities.
A stronger and longer-lasting alternative to amalgam or composite filling.
After removing decay, the dental technician prepares ’ the filling ’ with the sample taken from a previously prepared cavity. When the inlay is ready, the dentist cemented that into the cavity.
It can be made of composite, porcelain, gold and golden – porcelain.

  13. ONLAY
  14. (Requires 4-5 days)
Similar to inlay, but it’s applied in case of extremely large cavities.
We must replace the whole chewing-surface of the tooth, or maybe the whole chewing cusps. It can be made of composite, porcelain, gold and golden – porcelain.
It can be made of composite, porcelain, gold and golden – porcelain.

  15. GOLDEN-INLAY

  16. (Requires 4-5 days)
The only kind of filling that improves as time goes by.
It a simple explanation: during the use of fillings having high gold-content, that is during chewing we keep hitting more and more the filling-edge to the tooth-edge, thus they adjust to each other preventing the risk of secondary decay.

  17. VENEERS
  18. (Requires 4-5 days)
Veneers are thin sheet that are laid onto the teeth and bonded to the surface. We apply mainly ont he external surface of the frontal teeth. They are more durable and have more realistic appearance. We use it to correct the shape, position and colour of the teeth and to reach the best aestethic effect.

    The Procedure:
Veneers are a more conservative alternative to crowns since they require less removal of the tooth's original surface. With veneers in place, patients can expect straighter, whiter, and more even looking teeth. On the first visit, the dentist removes a very small layer of each tooth's outer enamel. A local anesthesia may be used.

The dentist makes a mold of the teeth then the technicians create customized veneers for the teeth. The lab prepares the veneers in one day. During this time, the teeth have a slightly different appearance because of the removal of the outer layer of enamel. On the third day, when the veneers are ready, the patient makes their second dental visit. The dentist applies the veneer to the tooth using a bonding material. When exposed to light, this bonding material dries and hardens.

  19. IMPLANTS

  20. (Requires 3-6 days, next visit after 3-6 months: 5-6 days)
Dental implants are artificial tooth roots made of bio-material which is placed in the socket of the lost teeth to carry a tooth replacement. The material is generally pure, unalloyed titanium, which is completely accepted by the human body.

    The Procedure:
During preliminary examinations the doctor checks the patient to decide if placement of dental implants can be carried out. This includes a dental examination (which teeth must be substituted, if the jaw is suitable for receiving the implants, taking of X-ray shots, etc.).
The insertion of implants is carried out under local anaesthesia. First the dentist prepares the given part of the jaw, then inserts the implant. The suture is removed 4-7 days later, and following this implants begin to heal under the gums.
The healing period lasts for about 3 months. During this time bone cells grow into the micro-pores created on the surface of the implant. This process is called osseointegration, and ensures the implants fix in place and become able to support a normal biting load long-term without any damage.

Note: If you notice any change, attend a check-up examination as soon as possible!

Then the tooth replacement is fixed onto the implants. First the implants osseointegrated under the gum are uncovered, then abutment pieces are fitted into them to support or retain the replacement.
Following this, the prosthesis is prepared in the dental laboratory in a short time in the usual way.
The complete implant reconstruction process may take from 2 to 6 months.
Contact between patient and dentist does not stop here, with placement of the new teeth. Among the most important criteria for long-run success in dental implantation are good mouth hygiene and regular medical check-ups. Patients wearing implant-based tooth replacement must regularly attend examinations once a year. Then the dentist verifies the state of the attachment of the bone and of the mucosa around the implant(s) and that of the tooth replacement, and makes the necessary corrections (e.g. removes plaque).

  21. DENTURES
  22. (Requires 7-8 days)
When multiple teeth are extracted, dentures may be the most appropriate solution.
Dentures can create a natural and healthy looking set of teeth.

    Complete and Partial Dentures

Many types of dentures exist, including complete and partial dentures.
Complete dentures are used when few of the original teeth remain. The dentist begins by removing any remaining teeth so the dentures can be fitted. He or she then makes a mold of the gums and sends it to a dental lab where customized dentures are constructed. Patients are typically fitted with temporary dentures until the permanent set of dentures have returned from the laboratory. Partial dentures are prepared in much the same way as a complete set, and are utilized when only a few teeth are missing...

  23. OVER DENTURES
  24. (Requires 7-8 days)
If the roots of a patient's remaining teeth (the tissue and gums) are strong, the dentist may suggest over dentures. Over dentures fit on top of the remainder of teeth in the mouth. With over dentures, the remaining teeth are resculpted and covered with metal caps to stop future decay. The advantage of over dentures is that they do not have to be relined as frequently as a complete set of dentures because the jawbone and gums recede less. In addition, over dentures create less occlusion (bite) problems than complete dentures.

  25. CROWNS
  26. (Requires 5 days)
When a tooth is cracked, decayed, or damaged, a crown may need to be fitted onto the tooth. A crown is a permanent covering that fits over the original tooth.

    The Procedure:
Crowns can be made of porcelain, gold and other metals, acrylic resin.
Porcelain crowns typically have the most realistic appearance, although they tend to be less durable than other materials. Crowns can whiten, reshape, and realign existing teeth, adding to a healthy and vibrant smile. During your first visit, the dentist will numb the tooth to be crowned and remove the decay in or around it. The tooth is then rescultped to provide an easy fit for the crown.

An impression of your teeth is then taken and sent to the dental lab where permanent, custom-made crowns are created (this usually takes weeks in the UK, USA etc. because of capacity problems). During this interim period, temporary crowns made of an acrylic resin are fitted onto the teeth. On your next visit, the dentist removes the temporary crown and fits the permanent crown onto the teeth. He or she makes sure the crown has the proper look and fit, and then cements the crown into place.

  27. BRIDGES

  28. (Requires 4-5 days)
A bridge is a device used to fill the space where a tooth has fallen out or been removed.
A typical bridge consists of a pontic (a filler tooth) that is attached to two surrounding crowns (abutments). Once complete, this bridge structure is bonded into the mouth. Without the use of a bridge, spaces in the mouth from missing teeth can cause multiple teeth to shift, lead to occlusion (biting) and/or jaw problems, and may spur periodontal disease.
Bridges safeguard the integrity of existing teeth and help maintain a healthy, vibrant smile.

    The Procedure:
Bridges usually require two trips to the dentist's office.
During the initial visit, the surrounding teeth are numbed with a local anesthetic. The dentist prepares the surrounding teeth by cleaning any plaque or decay that remains and reducing them so that the crowns can be fitted. The dentist makes a mold of the teeth and sends it off to a dental lab where the customized impression is prepared. In the interim, patients are fitted with a temporary bridge constructed of acrylic resin. On the next visit the dentist removes the temporary bridge and replaces it with the permanent one. The dentist then adjusts the bridge for the proper bite and fit, and the bridge is permanently bonded into the mouth

  29. TOOTH WHITENING
  30. Tooth whitening can be a highly effective way of lightening the natural colour of your teeth without removing any of the tooth surface.
There are a number of reasons why you might get your teeth whitened. Your teeth can also be stained on the surface through food and drinks such as tea, coffee, red wine and blackcurrant. Smoking can also stain teeth and our teeth can also become more discoloured as we get older.
Calculus or tartar can also affect the colour of teeth. Some people may have staining under the surface, which can be caused by certain antibiotics or tiny cracks in the teeth which take up stains.
There is now 'power whitening'. During this procedure a rubber dam is put over your teeth or a gel to protect the gums, and a bleaching product is painted onto your teeth. Then a light or laser is shone on the teeth to activate the chemical. The light or the ultrasonic speeds up the chemical reaction of the whitening product and the colour change can be achieved more quickly using this procedure. Power whitening can make teeth up to five or six shades lighter.
The 'active ingredient' in the product is usually hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide. As the active ingredient is broken down, oxygen gets into the enamel on the teeth and the tooth colour is made lighter.
A through tartar-removal, polishing and the filling of decayed teeth precede every kind of whitening method.
Artificial teeth can not be whitened. However, it is possible to substitute artificial teeth later, thus differences in shade can be avoided.

  31. SCALINGS
  32. Treatment for gum disease involving removal of hardened plaque (tartar or calculus) from teeth. Performed by a dental hygienist during a prophylaxis (dental cleaning), or in more extreme cases by a periodontist.

  33. DENTAL EXTRACTION
  34. The removal of a tooth that is severely decayed, broken, loose, or causing crowding.
